 CHANTRY HOUSE

WASHINGTON VILLAGE

Chantry House, at the heart of a conservation area, was built in 1757 and is now a family home.  Its age and location presented a number of factors that inevitably influenced our design, but without detracting from the ultimate aim: to transition space from the original building to the new extended areas as sympathetically as possible  and bring more natural light into this previously dark Georgian property.

The south facing garden dictated that the open plan living space where the family would spend the majority of their time should be at the back of the house.
